SC Believes Bengal Speaker Knows Disqualification Deadline

The Supreme Court stated it believes the West Bengal Assembly speaker is aware of the three-month deadline to decide on the disqualification of 10 rebel TMC MLAs. A bench headed by the Chief Justice of India made these observations while hearing a plea from an MLA seeking an expedited decision. The court noted that the three-month period set by the apex court for the speaker's decision will conclude on October 10. The petition was filed after the speaker was approached regarding the MLAs acting against party interests.
