Australian Designer Creates Hempcrete Tiles To Mimic Natural Wildlife Shelters
Times of India · environment
Australian designer Xavier Earls has developed Bush Cradle, a modular wildlife habitat system using hempcrete tiles designed to replicate natural shelters like tree hollows and rocky crevices. This innovative system aims to provide crucial refuges for native animals facing significant habitat loss. The interlocking tiles can be assembled into various configurations, with entrances tailored to specific species, addressing the shortage of natural nesting and resting places. Early observations show promising results, with ringtail possums reportedly using a prototype overnight, indicating the design's potential effectiveness in conservation efforts.
