Bengal Seeks Centre Aid For Malda Flood Project

West Bengal has proposed a Rs 1,550-crore flood management project for Malda's Ratua-I block and Manikchak to combat severe river erosion. The state government has submitted the project to the Ministry of Jal Shakti and sought intervention from the Centre. Bengal will contribute approximately Rs 610 crore. The project is crucial as the Fulhar river is nearing the Ganga, which could impact the Farakka barrage and Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port.

पश्चिम बंगाल ने मालदा के रतुआ-I ब्लॉक और मणिकचक के लिए 1,550 करोड़ रुपये की बाढ़ प्रबंधन परियोजना का प्रस्ताव दिया है। राज्य सरकार ने यह प्रोजेक्ट जल शक्ति मंत्रालय को भेजा है और केंद्र से मदद मांगी है। बंगाल इसमें करीब 610 करोड़ रुपये देगा। यह प्रोजेक्ट इसलिए ज़रूरी है क्योंकि फुलहर नदी गंगा के करीब आ रही है, जिससे फरक्का बैराज और श्यामा प्रसाद मुखर्जी पोर्ट पर असर पड़ सकता है।
