An Indian national, Deepak Sandhu, has been sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum of 28 years for the murder of Xiaoqing Ke, a Chinese woman he met at a brothel in Southampton, UK. Sandhu, who arrived in the UK on a student visa, was convicted of murder and perverting the course of justice after a jury trial. The court heard that Sandhu fabricated his identity and stole money from Ke after she discovered his lies and ended their relationship. He was arrested while attempting to flee the UK.
