Daler Mehndi Should Have Refused to Perform, Says Uttarakhand Minister

Uttarakhand Minister Subodh Uniyal stated that singer Daler Mehndi should have informed organisers about his ill health before performing. Uniyal alleged that Mehndi appeared to be lip-syncing and struggling, leading him to suspect substance influence. The minister explained he felt pressured to intervene as the elected representative, especially after a ₹35 lakh advance payment was made. He cited Sunanda Sharma returning her fee due to illness as a precedent. Uniyal added that artistes must conduct themselves with dignity, and if unwell, should refuse to perform.

उत्तराखंड के मंत्री सुबोध उनियाल ने कहा कि गायक दलेर मेहंदी को प्रदर्शन करने से पहले आयोजकों को अपनी अस्वस्थता के बारे में सूचित करना चाहिए था। उनियाल ने आरोप लगाया कि मेहंदी लिप-सिंक करते हुए और संघर्ष करते हुए दिखाई दिए, जिससे उन्हें नशीले पदार्थों के सेवन का संदेह हुआ। मंत्री ने बताया कि ₹35 लाख की अग्रिम राशि का भुगतान किए जाने के बाद, एक निर्वाचित प्रतिनिधि के रूप में हस्तक्षेप करने का दबाव महसूस हुआ। उन्होंने सुंदाना शर्मा द्वारा बीमारी के कारण अपनी फीस वापस करने का उदाहरण दिया। उनियाल ने आगे कहा कि कलाकारों को गरिमा के साथ व्यवहार करना चाहिए, और यदि वे अस्वस्थ हैं, तो उन्हें प्रदर्शन करने से मना कर देना चाहिए।
