Banks can deploy liquidity from $133 billion in FCNR(B) deposits over the coming months, according to RBI Deputy Governor Rohit Jain. This liquidity, mobilised through a concessional swap window, has boosted India's forex reserves to over $780 billion, making it the fifth-largest holder globally. Jain stressed that lending decisions must still be guided by banks' credit standards and asset-liability positions.
