The Federal Reserve's inspector general has found no evidence of criminal wrongdoing or administrative misconduct related to a costly renovation project. The project, involving two Fed buildings in Washington, DC, has exceeded its budget by approximately $1 billion, bringing the estimated total cost to about $2.4 billion. While the watchdog identified management shortcomings, it stated there were no grounds to believe a federal criminal law was violated. Former President Donald Trump had previously used the renovation costs to criticize Fed Chair Jerome Powell.
