Bihar Pollution Control Board Tightens Plantation Norms For Older Industrial Units

Times of India · environment

The Bihar State Pollution Control Board (BSPCB) is intensifying enforcement of plantation norms for older industrial units across the state, warning habitual offenders of punitive action. This move addresses concerns over industrial emissions and particulate pollution, particularly in older units lacking adequate green cover. Standalone red-category industries must maintain 25% green cover, while those in industrial estates need 15%. The norms aim to create green buffers to trap dust and limit pollutant spread. Industries failing to comply risk penalties, suspension, or closure.
