An assailant armed with two knives attacked a Serbian Gendarmerie officer guarding the Israeli Embassy in Belgrade early Wednesday, shouting "Allahu Akbar." The officer fatally shot the attacker in self-defense, sustaining minor injuries. Serbian authorities are investigating the incident as a terrorist attack, noting the assailant supported ISIS and displayed its symbol online. Serbia has raised its terrorism threat level to the highest, increasing police presence at sensitive sites. This incident follows a similar attack on the embassy in June.
