Archaeology Dept To Inspect Kurichi Check Dam Amid Damage Allegations

State archaeology department officials are set to inspect the Kurichi check dam in Coimbatore following claims that a historical structure was damaged during desilting by an NGO. The inspection follows a representation from an NGO founder urging the department to examine the site and secure artifacts. Officials confirmed damaged stones are historical but are analyzing their link to the Chola dynasty's Kolur dam. The department will conduct a joint inspection with water resources and local body officials, though a date is yet to be fixed.
