NPCI to Levy 0.4% Charge on UPI Transactions

The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has announced a merchant discount rate (MDR) for UPI transactions. Starting October 15, a 0.4% charge will be applied to person-to-merchant payments exceeding Rs 2,000. For transactions of Rs 75,000 and above, the MDR will be capped at Rs 300 per transaction. This move introduces charges on certain UPI payments, potentially impacting small businesses and consumers using digital payment methods.

एनपीसीआई यूपीआई लेनदेन पर 0.4% शुल्क लगाएगा

एनपीसीआई (NPCI) ने यूपीआई (UPI) ट्रांजैक्शन पर मर्चेंट डिस्काउंट रेट (MDR) का ऐलान किया है। 15 अक्टूबर से, 2,000 रुपये से ज़्यादा के मर्चेंट पेमेंट पर 0.4% चार्ज लगेगा। वहीं, 75,000 रुपये या उससे ज़्यादा के ट्रांजैक्शन पर यह MDR 300 रुपये प्रति ट्रांजैक्शन तक सीमित रहेगा। इससे कुछ यूपीआई पेमेंट्स पर शुल्क लगेगा, जिसका असर छोटे व्यापारियों और डिजिटल पेमेंट इस्तेमाल करने वालों पर पड़ सकता है।
