Times of India · india

The Chandigarh administration has begun resolving long-pending issues for cooperative group housing societies by withdrawing the 1.2 factor used by the Chandigarh Housing Board. This decision is expected to reduce leasehold-to-freehold conversion charges by nearly 30% for flat owners. The administration is also addressing the unearned increase issue and awaiting a decision on shifting the conversion process to the Estate Office. This move follows years of policy disputes and representations, with residents previously facing inflated charges due to the erroneous factor.
