Hindustan Times · environment

Union ministers Bhupender Yadav and Shivraj Singh Chouhan have directed states to intensify ground-level monitoring of stubble burning, especially after 3 pm, to counter farmers evading satellite detection. Strict instructions were issued to key districts in Punjab and Haryana, with a call for increased ground patrolling and flying squads. While Haryana and Uttar Pradesh have seen significant reductions in farm fires, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh are causing concern. States are urged to provide farmers with affordable alternatives to stubble burning, such as crop residue machines.
