Tarun Tejpal Surrenders After Goa Court Conviction

Former Tehelka editor-in-chief Tarun Tejpal surrendered before the Mapusa court on Monday. This follows the Bombay High Court sentencing him to 10 years in prison for raping a junior colleague in a Goa hotel lift in 2013. Tejpal had challenged the high court's verdict in the Supreme Court, which directed his surrender within two weeks. The high court overturned his 2021 acquittal by a Goa sessions court, convicting him of the offence.

तरुण तेजपाल ने सोमवार को मापुसा कोर्ट में सरेंडर कर दिया। बॉम्बे हाई कोर्ट ने उन्हें 2013 में गोवा के एक होटल लिफ्ट में एक जूनियर सहकर्मी से रेप के मामले में 10 साल की जेल की सजा सुनाई थी। तेजपाल ने हाई कोर्ट के फैसले को सुप्रीम कोर्ट में चुनौती दी थी, जिसने उन्हें दो हफ्ते में सरेंडर करने का आदेश दिया था। हाई कोर्ट ने गोवा सेशन कोर्ट द्वारा 2021 में उन्हें बरी करने के फैसले को पलट दिया था।
