United World Wrestling has introduced a new ranking system to govern qualification for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, effective January 1. The revamped system prioritizes match victories and elevates the importance of Ranking Series events. Three wrestlers per Olympic weight category will now qualify through UWW rankings, with the 2027 World Championships and continental championships also offering quota places. The new points structure rewards higher-level competitions more significantly, encouraging wrestlers to compete actively throughout the qualification cycle.
