Punjab Govt Questions Centre on Pharma Units Supplying Drugs

Hindustan Times · politics

Punjab minister Harpal Singh Cheema has sharply criticized the BJP-led central government for failing to act against pharmaceutical drug manufacturers supplying intoxicants to the state. He stated that while Punjab is actively combating drug traffickers, the Centre ignores the sources of synthetic and pharmaceutical drugs, which are located in BJP and Congress-ruled states. Cheema highlighted that medicines like Pregabalin and Tramadol are misused as intoxicants, and the state government's requests to the Centre for stronger legal provisions and inclusion in the NDPS Act have gone unanswered.
