Maharashtra Forms Panel To Address Loose Edible Oil Ban Concerns
Hindustan Times · business
The Maharashtra government has established a committee to address concerns surrounding the sale of loose edible oil and protect the livelihoods of traditional traders. This decision follows Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis's decision to halt an immediate ban on loose oil sales, which was initially mandated by the FDA to curb adulteration. The committee will examine food safety rules alongside practical difficulties faced by traders and suggest policy interventions. Its recommendations will be advisory, with no authority to grant exemptions from existing regulations.
