France Imposes Curfews in Paris, Nice After Weekend Riots

French authorities have imposed curfews in parts of Paris, Lille, and Nice following widespread rioting and looting over the weekend. The unrest stemmed from cost-of-living and anti-government protests. In Paris, a curfew was issued around Place de la Republique and Les Halles from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. local time. Nice implemented a curfew for minors in its city center, while Marseille banned gatherings. Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu stated his determination to restore order, though he ruled out a blanket curfew for Paris.
