Japan has emerged as the largest source of foreign direct investment (FDI) into India for the first quarter of fiscal year 2026-27, injecting $5.71 billion. This figure significantly surpasses the $3.74 billion received from Japan during the entire previous fiscal year. These Japanese inflows constitute nearly 29% of India's total equity inflows of $19.81 billion for the quarter. While automotive sector investments remain strong, recent FDI has been driven by financial services, technology, and digital infrastructure, indicating Japan's evolving view of India as a market and innovation hub.
