Delhi Gets Monsoon Surplus Amid Regional Deficit

Delhi received an 8% rainfall surplus this monsoon season, defying a significant deficit in neighbouring Haryana and northwest India. This unusual pattern, with Delhi receiving more rain than surrounding areas, is attributed to a strengthening El Nino and climate change. Low-pressure systems from the Bay of Bengal shifted northward, impacting Delhi-NCR more than other regions. Westerly disturbances also played a role, with the jet stream retreating later than usual.

इस मानसून में दिल्ली में सामान्य से 8% ज़्यादा बारिश हुई। वहीं, हरियाणा और उत्तर भारत के कई हिस्सों में पानी की भारी कमी देखी गई। दिल्ली में इतनी ज़्यादा बारिश और आसपास के इलाकों में कम बारिश की वजह El Nino का मज़बूत होना और जलवायु परिवर्तन बताई जा रही है। बंगाल की खाड़ी से आए कम दबाव वाले सिस्टम उत्तर की ओर मुड़ गए, जिससे दिल्ली-एनसीआर पर ज़्यादा असर हुआ।
