Akola Farmer Alleges Microfinance Firm Took Wife's Photos During Loan Recovery
Times of India · india
A farmer from Akola district has accused a microfinance company of pressuring him for loan repayment despite drought conditions and crop damage. Yogesh Nagapure claims company representatives repeatedly visited his home and took photographs of his wife without consent. This alleged harassment occurred despite directives from the Chief Minister and Revenue Minister for leniency towards distressed farmers. The microfinance company stated they had not received any official order regarding such practices. Agricultural experts note that inadequate formal credit facilities often push farmers towards alternative lenders.
