Weather records indicate that the Bay of Bengal experiences approximately four times more cyclones than the Arabian Sea. This phenomenon is attributed to the confluence of major Indian rivers, including the Ganga, Godavari, Krishna, Kaveri, and Mahanadi, which flow eastward into the Bay of Bengal. India's topography features a slope towards the east, causing most large rivers originating in the west to drain into the eastern sea.
