The Union government is considering a review of fixed costs for three urea manufacturing units, including two state-run and one cooperative, to align them with industry peers. Currently, most units receive a minimum fixed cost reimbursement of ₹2,300 per tonne, but NFL-Vijaipur, RCF Thal, and Kribhco Hazira have lower rates. Industry sources indicate that outdated cost data under previous New Pricing Scheme regimes has led to under-recoveries for manufacturers. MP Ajeet Gopchade has also highlighted concerns about aging machinery in some plants, urging urgent replacement due to safety risks.
