Kraft, a Jewish billionaire, cited Macklemore's "antisemitic rhetoric and imagery" as crossing a line. Macklemore had recently performed a speech about Palestine and released a song dedicated to a child killed in Gaza. Sheeran stated the venue and promoter made the decision. Kraft has funded Jewish and Israeli causes, receiving the "Jewish Nobel Prize" in 2019.
