India and Liberia have launched a new UN initiative, the 'Group of Friends on Safety & Security of Shipping & Seafarers', to address rising attacks on civilian shipping and seafarers. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar stated these attacks, which disrupt maritime commerce and cause loss of life, are indefensible. The group aims to bring together major ship-owning states and countries with significant seafaring populations to deter such incidents. Recent attacks in the Gulf, Red Sea, and Black Sea have highlighted the urgent need for stronger international cooperation to protect seafarers.

भारत और लाइबेरिया ने जहाजों और नाविकों की सुरक्षा के लिए संयुक्त राष्ट्र की एक नई पहल 'ग्रुप ऑफ फ्रेंड्स ऑन सेफ्टी एंड सिक्योरिटी ऑफ शिपिंग एंड सीफेरर्स' शुरू की है। विदेश मंत्री एस जयशंकर ने कहा कि जहाजों पर बढ़ते हमले अस्वीकार्य हैं। यह समूह समुद्री व्यापार को बाधित करते हैं और जानमाल का नुकसान पहुंचाते हैं। इसका मकसद प्रमुख जहाज मालिक देशों और बड़ी संख्या में नाविकों वाले देशों को एकजुट कर ऐसे हमलों को रोकना है।
