Middle East War Hits Indian Fuel Retailers OMCs Losing Up To Rs 30 Per Litre
Times of India · business
India's oil marketing companies (OMCs) are facing significant losses on petrol and diesel sales due to the Middle East conflict. A Jefferies report estimates losses of Rs 26 per litre for petrol and Rs 30 for diesel. This is driven by increased crude procurement and shipping costs, with freight rates rising eightfold. Crude oil flows from the Middle East, excluding Iran, have fallen to 75% of pre-war levels, impacting import-dependent nations like India. While refining margins remain high, higher crude and transportation costs are squeezing marketing margins.
