Allahabad HC Dismisses Plea Seeking Reservation For Elderly In MBBS Admissions

The Allahabad High Court has dismissed a petition filed by 70-year-old Ashok Bahar seeking 1% reservation for elderly individuals in MBBS and other medical course admissions. The court stated that the issue of reservation falls under the purview of the legislature or the government. Bahar, a resident of Lucknow who holds an MBA and LLB, had previously served as a marketing head and took pre-retirement in 2020. He had qualified for NEET UG 2026, but his dream of admission was dashed by the court's decision.

इलाहाबाद हाई कोर्ट ने 70 वर्षीय अशोक बहार की उस याचिका को खारिज कर दिया है जिसमें उन्होंने MBBS और अन्य मेडिकल कोर्स के एडमिशन में बुजुर्गों के लिए 1% आरक्षण की मांग की थी। कोर्ट ने कहा कि आरक्षण का मसला विधायिका या सरकार के दायरे में आता है। लखनऊ के रहने वाले बहार, जिनके पास MBA और LLB की डिग्री है, पहले मार्केटिंग हेड रह चुके हैं और 2020 में उन्होंने प्री-रिटायरमेंट लिया था। उन्होंने NEET UG 2026 के लिए क्वालीफाई किया था, लेकिन कोर्ट के फैसले से उनके एडमिशन का सपना टूट गया।
