Hindustan Times · world

Moldova's parliament is set to change legislation to allow for domestic arms production, primarily for self-defence, according to Parliament Chairman Igor Grosu. The country aims to manufacture dual-purpose weapons, such as drones, for national security, emergency response, and agricultural use. Grosu clarified that these weapons are not intended for Ukraine, despite the ongoing conflict with Russia. Moldova, situated between Ukraine and Romania, has experienced numerous airspace violations since February 2022, prompting concerns about its defence capabilities. President Maia Sandu highlighted domestic production as crucial for future defence planning.
