19 Fishermen Arrested For Illegal Fishing Inside Gahirmatha Marine Sanctuary

Forest officials in Kendrapada district apprehended 19 fishermen and seized two trawlers for allegedly conducting illegal fishing within the Gahirmatha Marine Wildlife Sanctuary. The fishermen were caught using gill and trawling nets about 4 km inside the sanctuary limits and failed to produce any valid permits. Their activities violated the Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972. Two wildlife offence cases have been registered, and the fishermen have been forwarded to court. The sanctuary is a protected area crucial for marine life, especially Olive Ridley sea turtles.

गहिरमाथा मरीन सेंचुरी में अवैध मछली पकड़ने के आरोप में 19 मछुआरे गिरफ्तार

केंद्रपाड़ा जिले के वन अधिकारियों ने 19 मछुआरों को पकड़ा और दो ट्रॉलर जब्त किए, जिन पर कथित तौर पर गहिरमाथा मरीन वाइल्डलाइफ सेंचुरी के अंदर अवैध मछली पकड़ने का आरोप है। मछुआरे सेंचुरी की सीमा के अंदर लगभग 4 किमी की दूरी पर गिल और ट्रॉलिंग जाल का उपयोग करते हुए पकड़े गए थे और उनके पास कोई वैध परमिट नहीं था। उनकी गतिविधियों ने वन्यजीव (संरक्षण) अधिनियम, 1972 का उल्लंघन किया। दो वन्यजीव अपराध मामले दर्ज किए गए हैं, और मछुआरों को अदालत में पेश किया गया है। यह सेंचुरी समुद्री जीवन, विशेष रूप से ओलिव रिडले समुद्री कछुओं के लिए एक संरक्षित क्षेत्र है।
