The Hindu · india
A new study by ICMR-National Institute of Nutrition (NIN) in Hyderabad suggests that a mother's knowledge, attitude, and feeding practices significantly influence a child's reluctance to try new foods. Researchers assessed 150 mother-child pairs, finding that nearly 77% of children exhibited moderate food neophobia. The study also noted a link between nutritional status and food acceptance, with wasted children showing higher neophobia. Findings highlight the need for stronger nutrition counselling for caregivers to promote diverse diets and better nutritional health in early childhood.
