Business Standard · business
The International Finance Corporation (IFC) has provided a $150 million social loan to the State Bank of India (SBI) to enhance agricultural finance access for rural women. This funding aims to empower approximately 864,000 women across various agricultural sectors, with up to 90 percent supporting women through Self-Help Groups. This marks IFC's first credit line to an Indian public-sector bank and includes their initial cross-currency swap under a new agreement. The initiative aligns with the World Bank Group's AgriConnect programme to boost women's participation in agricultural value chains.
