The Calcutta High Court has strongly criticized the Election Commission for allotting the 'envelope' symbol to the Democratic Trinamool Congress for an upcoming bypoll, a symbol previously used by the Indian Secular Front in the 2026 assembly election. Justice Krishna Rao questioned the EC's decision, stating the commission is creating trouble and burdening courts with legal proceedings. The court emphasized the need for impartial action and questioned why the EC chose this.

कोलकाता हाई कोर्ट ने चुनाव आयोग को फटकार लगाई है। कोर्ट ने कहा कि आगामी उपचुनाव के लिए डेमॉक्रेटिक तृणमूल कांग्रेस को 'लिफाफा' चुनाव चिन्ह देना गलत है। यह चिन्ह पहले इंडियन सेक्युलर फ्रंट इस्तेमाल कर चुका है। जस्टिस कृष्णा राव ने चुनाव आयोग के फैसले पर सवाल उठाए और कहा कि आयोग खुद मुसीबतें खड़ी कर रहा है और अदालतों पर बोझ डाल रहा है। कोर्ट ने निष्पक्षता की जरूरत पर जोर दिया।
