Nobel Peace Prize winner Navi Pillay has called on the United States to re-embrace its role as a global defender of human rights and freedom. Pillay, an International Court of Justice judge, expressed disappointment with recent US sanctions against the International Criminal Court (ICC). She believes the timing of these sanctions, which followed an inquiry she chaired finding Israel committed genocide in Gaza, is not coincidental. Pillay emphasized the importance of international criminal justice and solidarity with the ICC.
