Netanyahu Faces Strong Challengers in Israel's Upcoming Election

Benjamin Netanyahu is seeking an unprecedented seventh term as Israel's prime minister in the upcoming October 27 election. His main rival is former army general Gadi Eisenkot, who founded the Yashar party and has vowed to end Hamas's rule in Gaza within 18 months. Other key challengers include former prime minister Naftali Bennett, leading the Beyahad party, and Yair Lapid, founder of the centrist Yesh Atid party. Avigdor Lieberman, a hardline nationalist, also presents a challenge. The election will determine the composition of the 120-seat Knesset.
