Mamata Banerjee's Party Gets New Name, Symbol

The Election Commission has allotted new names and symbols to rival factions of the Trinamool Congress. Mamata Banerjee's faction will now be known as 'Mamata All India Trinamool Congress' with the 'Football Player' symbol. The opposing group, led by Arup Roy, will be called 'Democratic Trinamool Congress' and use the 'Envelope' symbol. Both will be treated as recognised parties in Bengal, Meghalaya, and Tripura.

चुनाव आयोग ने तृणमूल कांग्रेस के दो गुटों को नए नाम और चुनाव चिन्ह दे दिए हैं। ममता बनर्जी वाले गुट का नाम अब 'ममता ऑल इंडिया तृणमूल कांग्रेस' होगा और उनका चुनाव चिन्ह 'फुटबॉल खिलाड़ी' रहेगा। वहीं, अरूप रॉय के नेतृत्व वाले दूसरे गुट को 'डेमोक्रेटिक तृणमूल कांग्रेस' नाम मिला है और वे 'लिफाफा' चिन्ह का इस्तेमाल करेंगे। दोनों गुटों को पश्चिम बंगाल, मेघालय और त्रिपुरा में मान्यता प्राप्त दल माना जाएगा।
