Industrial Bodies Demand Civic Upgrades Before Higher FAR in Chandigarh

Chandigarh's proposed industrial area reforms have received 162 objections, with stakeholders demanding infrastructure upgrades before allowing higher FAR. Concerns include the impact on existing investments, Chandigarh's planned character, and already stretched utilities. Many stakeholders want existing structures to benefit from enhanced FAR without mandatory zoning changes or redevelopment. The proposal for mixed land use also faced significant opposition, with 28 stakeholders raising concerns about commercialisation and congestion. Even supporters of increased construction intensity stressed the need for infrastructure upgrades to handle increased traffic and utility pressure.

चंडीगढ़ के प्रस्तावित औद्योगिक क्षेत्र सुधारों पर 162 आपत्तियाँ आई हैं। हितधारक ज़्यादा एफएआर की अनुमति देने से पहले बुनियादी ढाँचे में सुधार की माँग कर रहे हैं। चिंताओं में मौजूदा निवेशों पर असर, चंडीगढ़ का नियोजित चरित्र और पहले से ही तनावग्रस्त उपयोगिताओं का उल्लेख है। कई हितधारक चाहते हैं कि मौजूदा ढाँचे को अनिवार्य ज़ोनिंग बदलावों या पुनर्विकास के बिना बढ़ी हुई एफएआर से लाभ मिले। मिश्रित भूमि उपयोग के प्रस्ताव का भी काफ़ी विरोध हुआ, जिसमें 28 हितधारकों ने व्यावसायीकरण और भीड़भाड़ के बारे में चिंताएँ जताईं। निर्माण तीव्रता बढ़ाने के समर्थकों ने भी बढ़े हुए ट्रैफ़िक और उपयोगिता दबाव को संभालने के लिए बुनियादी ढाँचे में सुधार की आवश्यकता पर ज़ोर दिया।
