The incident occurred on September 27 during a road inspection in Tilak Nagar. The man who was allegedly slapped, Sahib Singh, identified himself as an associate of AAP MLA Jarnail Singh and handles his social media. Singh's petition also seeks police protection for him and his family.

दिल्ली हाईकोर्ट ने डिप्टी सीएम परवेश वर्मा और दिल्ली पुलिस से एक याचिका पर जवाब मांगा है। इस याचिका में कथित थप्पड़ मारने की घटना की स्वतंत्र जांच की मांग की गई है। यह घटना 27 सितंबर को तिलक नगर में एक सड़क निरीक्षण के दौरान हुई थी। जिस व्यक्ति को कथित तौर पर थप्पड़ मारा गया था, साहिब सिंह, उन्होंने खुद को AAP MLA जर्नेल सिंह का सहयोगी बताया और कहा कि वह उनका सोशल मीडिया संभालते हैं। सिंह की याचिका में उनके और उनके परिवार के लिए पुलिस सुरक्षा की भी मांग की गई है।
