Karnataka Hospitals To Reveal Medicine Purchase Prices And Procedure Costs

Karnataka hospitals must now display the purchase price and maximum retail price of medicines on patient bills starting November 1. Health Minister U T Khader announced that medicine price lists will also be publicly displayed, aiming to increase transparency in hospital billing. The government is also considering making procedure costs more accessible to patients. While private hospitals will not be forced to match government rates, their charges can vary based on amenities and treatment levels. The state is still determining penalties for non-compliance.

कर्नाटक के अस्पतालों को अब 1 नवंबर से मरीजों के बिलों पर दवाओं की खरीद कीमत और अधिकतम खुदरा मूल्य (MRP) दिखाना होगा। स्वास्थ्य मंत्री यू टी खादर ने घोषणा की कि दवाओं की कीमतों की सूची भी सार्वजनिक रूप से प्रदर्शित की जाएगी, जिसका उद्देश्य अस्पताल के बिलों में पारदर्शिता बढ़ाना है। सरकार मरीजों के लिए प्रक्रिया की लागत को अधिक सुलभ बनाने पर भी विचार कर रही है। हालांकि निजी अस्पतालों को सरकारी दरों से मेल खाने के लिए मजबूर नहीं किया जाएगा, लेकिन उनकी फीस सुविधाओं और उपचार के स्तर के आधार पर भिन्न हो सकती है। राज्य अभी भी अनुपालन न करने पर दंड निर्धारित कर रहा है।
