CJI Surya Kant Declines Meeting With Rahul Gandhi, Cites Confidentiality

Chief Justice of India Surya Kant has declined a meeting request from Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge. The leaders sought to submit a memorandum regarding electoral reforms and the resignation of the Chief Election Commissioner. CJI Kant stated he had replied to their letter the same night, citing reasons for his inability to meet, but maintained the confidentiality of the correspondence. He emphasized that the Supreme Court's doors remain open to all citizens and elected representatives to approach the court with petitions.

भारत के मुख्य न्यायाधीश सूर्यकांत ने कांग्रेस नेताओं राहुल गांधी और मल्लिकार्जुन खड़गे के मिलने के अनुरोध को अस्वीकार कर दिया है। नेताओं ने चुनावी सुधारों और मुख्य चुनाव आयुक्त के इस्तीफे के संबंध में एक ज्ञापन सौंपना चाहा था। सीजेआई कांत ने कहा कि उन्होंने उसी रात उनके पत्र का जवाब दिया था, जिसमें मिलने में असमर्थता के कारण बताए गए थे, लेकिन उन्होंने पत्राचार की गोपनीयता बनाए रखी। उन्होंने जोर देकर कहा कि याचिकाएं लेकर अदालत में आने के लिए सुप्रीम कोर्ट के दरवाजे सभी नागरिकों और निर्वाचित प्रतिनिधियों के लिए खुले हैं।
