Union Minister Nitin Gadkari announced a new 630-km highway corridor connecting Siliguri, Guwahati, and Shillong, with an estimated cost of Rs 61,500 crore. This project aims to significantly improve connectivity in the North East region. The corridor includes a 400-km stretch between Siliguri and Guwahati for Rs 30,000 crore, and a greenfield road connecting Guwahati and Shillong, reducing distance and travel time. Another leg will link Shillong to Silchar, further cutting travel duration and distance. This initiative is part of broader efforts to enhance infrastructure in the region.
