Houthi Island Seizures Deepen Red Sea Shipping Fears

Renewed fighting in Yemen has heightened concerns over Red Sea and Strait of Hormuz shipping routes. A Houthi official reported Saudi airstrikes killed three, including two children, in Taiz province. Human Rights Watch stated Houthi attacks on commercial vessels could constitute war crimes, citing incidents between July 20 and August 24. The Houthis seized strategic islands, strengthening control over shipping lanes, following their capture of Mokha port.
