Norway Recycles 20 Tonnes of Oil Platform Aluminium Into Pedestrian Bridge
Times of India · environment
Norway has transformed 20 tonnes of aluminium from the decommissioned Gyda oil platform into a 55-metre pedestrian and cycle bridge in Trondheim. Named Hangarbrua, it crosses railway lines and is the first aluminium bridge built in Norway since 1995. The bridge deck is made entirely from recycled aluminium, linking the country's offshore industrial past with new urban infrastructure. This project also serves as a pilot for future aluminium construction, demonstrating innovative reuse of industrial materials.
