A former senior federal employee, David J. Rush, has pleaded guilty to defrauding the US government of approximately $193.6 million. Court documents reveal that $102 million of these funds were used to purchase four properties in Florida, including two homes and a parcel in Palm Beach, and another parcel in Hobe Sound. Rush allegedly exploited his government position and security clearance to create fictitious authorities and divert federal money for personal gain. The investigation also uncovered gold bars, cash, and luxury watches purchased with the illicit funds.
