A massive 2019 data breach at Labcorp's third-party debt collector, AMCA, exposed personal information of over 27.5 million people. This included Social Security numbers and medical test details. Following the breach, a coalition of 44 states has secured a $2.3 million settlement. The agreement also mandates significant new data safeguards to protect sensitive consumer information. Labcorp must now implement stricter data security measures and enhance oversight of its vendors.
