MMRDA Plans Six-Lane Bridge Parallel to British-Era Ulhas River Span

Times of India · india

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has requested a detailed project report from the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) for a new six-lane bridge over the Ulhas River. This bridge will run parallel to the existing British-era structure, aiming to improve connectivity between Kalyan, Titwala, and surrounding villages. The current bridge faces significant traffic pressure due to rapid urbanisation and increasing vehicle numbers, causing congestion and delays. The proposed modern bridge, along with approach roads, is intended to ease this pressure and facilitate smoother movement for commuters and emergency services.
