Two Chinese nationals, Liren Lai and Yuance Chen, have been sentenced to 30 months in prison in the United States for spying on the US. They admitted to attempting to recruit US military service members and facilitating cash payments for national security information. Operating as agents for China's Ministry of State Security since May 2021, they arranged 'dead drop' payments of $10,000 and $20,000. The pair also obtained photographs of a naval facility and collected personal information on military personnel, undermining US national security.
