The sale of harmful crackers should be stopped, but religious sentiments should not be hurt.

सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने पटाखों पर कड़े नियंत्रण लगाने से मना कर दिया है, यह कहते हुए कि उसे ऐसे आदेशों से बचना चाहिए जिन्हें लागू करना मुश्किल हो। बेंच ने जबरदस्ती के उपायों के बजाय जन जागरूकता और आत्म-संयम की आवश्यकता पर जोर दिया। प्रदूषण और स्वास्थ्य पर पड़ने वाले प्रभावों के बारे में चिंताओं को स्वीकार करते हुए, अदालत ने हानिकारक पटाखों के बारे में लोगों को शिक्षित करने और दीये जलाने जैसी पारंपरिक प्रथाओं को बढ़ावा देने का सुझाव दिया। हानिकारक पटाखों की बिक्री रोकी जानी चाहिए, लेकिन धार्मिक भावनाओं को ठेस नहीं पहुंचनी चाहिए।
