Former Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov stated that President Vladimir Putin is unwilling to negotiate an end to the Ukraine war, despite acknowledging the invasion was a mistake. Kasyanov believes Putin is convinced he is winning a war of attrition and is strengthened by high oil prices and Western disagreements. He urged Western nations to maintain unity and supply Kyiv with Patriot missiles. Kasyanov, who lives in exile, noted that while the Russian elite fears the war's continuation, ordinary Russians are accustomed to hardship, though further mobilization could spark protests.
