Former US President Bill Clinton revealed that the CIA cancelled a plan to eliminate Osama bin Laden before the 9/11 attacks. Clinton had authorised the operation, prioritising stopping the al-Qaida leader, but the agency aborted it due to fears of civilian casualties. He considered bin Laden the biggest threat to the US and wished his administration had done more. Clinton recalled suspecting bin Laden immediately after the second plane hit the World Trade Center.
