Road Fatalities Rise Despite Fewer Accidents in Lucknow

Road accidents in Lucknow division saw a slight decrease between January and August this year, but fatalities increased from 2,359 to 2,396. Lucknow and Lakhimpur Kheri districts contributed most significantly to this rise in deaths. Lucknow alone saw accidents climb by 11.9% and fatalities by 10.6%. Divisional commissioner Vijay Vishwas Pant has directed officials to analyze the causes behind the increased fatalities in these districts and submit a report. The committee also reviewed compensation claims and the implementation of a cashless treatment scheme for accident victims.

लखनऊ मंडल में इस साल जनवरी से अगस्त के बीच सड़क हादसों में थोड़ी कमी आई है, लेकिन मरने वालों की संख्या 2,359 से बढ़कर 2,396 हो गई। लखनऊ और लखीमपुर खीरी जिलों में मौतों में सबसे ज्यादा बढ़ोतरी हुई। लखनऊ में ही हादसे 11.9% और मौतें 10.6% बढ़ीं। कमिश्नर विजय विश्वास पंत ने अधिकारियों को इन जिलों में मौतों के कारणों का विश्लेषण कर रिपोर्ट देने का निर्देश दिया है।
